Reviewer FAQ

Our Review Teams have the highest follow-through rating anywhere, and that’s achieved through a combination of having the best reviewers and the best behind-the-scenes support. As advance readers and listeners, our goal is to support the sale or release of a book by leaving reviews that will hopefully help other readers in making their purchasing decisions.

Why should I apply to join the Book Boyfriend Buzz review team?

  • Because you love reading and/or listening to romance novels!
  • Because you want to support your favourite authors and discover new ones!
  • Because you love free books!

Do I get paid for reviewing?

Nope. That’s against Amazon’s Terms of Service. You do, however, get access to some incredible reviewing opportunities at no cost to you—that’s reward enough.

I don’t like reading books of a certain genre – will I be expected to read them?

Not at all! We know that everyone has different tastes in their books, so we build our team with reviewers who love a bit of everything. If a title is offered that you’re not interested in, just ignore the sign-up and wait for the next one.

What do I do if I didn’t like a book that I received?

We know that not every book will be a winner with every reviewer, and that’s okay. If you’ve received a book you didn’t enjoy, you can choose to opt out of reviewing or post an honest review. If you choose to post a review, we simply ask that you’re tactful in your choice of words.

Is there a minimum number of ARCs I have to request to stay on the team?

No. We know that everyone’s schedule is different, and the number of hours someone has to read and review will be different from person to person. As long as you review the titles you request, that’s all that matters.

What is the ‘naughty’ list?

We consistently track who is and isn’t reviewing, and reviewers who fail to follow through with submitting reviews will be put on our ‘naughty’ list. Depending on the situation, this could mean fewer reviewing opportunities, a decreased likelihood of getting the books you’re interested in, or even removal from the team.

The key to a great relationship between B3 and our reviewers is communication, and we’ll do everything we can to keep you in the loop.

Where do I have to post my reviews?

Our primary goal is to have reviews posted to Amazon, but we know that not every reviewer is able to post there. If you are unable to post to Amazon, we’ll ask you to post wherever you’re able. (Bookbub, Goodreads, etc.)

Some books will have a ‘wide release’ and be available on multiple sites (iTunes, Kobo, B&N, etc.) and you’ll be encouraged to review wherever possible, but it’s not a requirement.
